Is It A Good Idea To Teach Your Baby How To Swim?

yawning babyIf there is any kind of sport in this world that is good for you, then it has got to be swimming beyond the shadow of any doubt. Swimming can totally help you shape up, because it requires you to use many large muscle groups all at once. You burn a lot of calories by swimming for only half an hour or so. The water offers plenty of resistance. I do not thing that there are other sports out there that are so physically demanding of a person as swimming is. Not if you do it for a long time, that is. Apart from lifting heavy weights, I can not think of another sport that even comes close to swimming. Perhaps this is one of the main reasons why swimming has become much more popular than it ever was before, in recent years. Every single year, I see more and more people signing up to my local swimming club. There also seems to be a surge in subscriptions every 4 years, right after the olympics. I guess people want to be in shape just as nicely as those olympic swimmers.

weird babyBut enough about olympic swimming. That’s not what I want to focus on. These days… it’s all about swimming for babies. Ayup, that’s right. Babies are taking to the water en masse. You can not stop the babies! You must be thinking I have completely lost my marbles, but please hear me out. Baby swimming has become very popular indeed! This activity is nothing new. Mommies have been teaching their newborns to swim at an early age for a very long time already. When you think of it, it just makes sense. Babies spend the first 9 months of their lives floating around in a fluid. Does it not make perfect sense for them to dive right into another fluid after they have been born? Some mommies give their babies a water birth, although this does not have much to do with baby swimming, per se. It is, however, a good way of teaching that baby how to swim right after he is born. And the experience is also very soothing for both the mommy as well as the baby. I believe Paisley from the http://babygotstuff.com site has also done this. I can totally understand why a woman, who is giving birth to a baby, would want to be in a comfortable position when she is delivering her son or daughter. And I can’t think of anything that is more comfortable than a nice warm pool of water.

Teaching Babies How To Swim

toys babyThe thing with babies is that they must have a lot of care from their parents. And no matter how much you try to take care of that child, nothin you do will ever be good enough. Every parent is going to want the very best for their baby, and raising them can be tremendously hard work. You will need to buy that baby a lot of products in order to ensure that the kid is going to grow up a to become a healthy adult human being. You’re not going to be done with just a big stack of diapers and baby toys. Oh, no! If you are adamant about your child growing up healthy, then you will have to make sure he gets lots of physical exercise right from an early age on. And for that reason it is such a good idea to sign your baby boy or girl up to a swimming class for babies a few days or weeks after the birth. Swimming can be truly exhausting for adults. I’m sure you know this from your own experience. The same is true for babies. Swimming babies require loads of healthy nutrients and also lots of sleep. So you will need to buy a food maker along with a good baby crib (read this page on Baby Got Stuff to learn more). It’s the only way to properly feed and rest your baby. And then there is the little matter of transporting your baby from home to the swimming pool and back again. Naturally, you already own a car. Because if you didn’t, well… that would be ridiculous, ofcourse you have a car! A car seat can help you travel safely with your newborn child. Because a baby needs to be strapped in safely and comfortably, in case something bad happens. Holding him in your lap simply is not safe enough.

tower babyLet’s face it… you are going to pay your way to the poor house in order to raise your kid. So you might as well pony up that little bit extra to ensure that your child will learn how to swim properly. Think of it as an investment. An ongoing one, ofcourse. A baby’s swimming lessons are not finished once they have had a water birth. It is going to take more effort than that, buddy! If you want your child to become totally comfortable in the water, then you’re going to have to take another few weeks to months. A baby will always hold his or her breath under water. This instinct comes totally naturally. And that’s something you can totally make use of. Early age swimming lessons are one of the best investments that you can make for your newborn baby. Because it greatly decreases the risk of an accidental drowning later on in the child’s life. Not only is swimming a very healthy activity for young ones, it is also a great way of preventing them from drowning at a later time. As a parent, you will always want the very best for your child, so it only makes sense to teach your baby swimming right out of the womb. This is especially true if you just so happen to live near water. Maybe you know somebody how has accidentally lost a child because it got into the water without knowing how to swim.

Children have a natural ability to become one with the water. They will let themselves float in it naturally, as if they have never done anything else. It does not take much to teach a baby this very important skill. Children who have never been taught this as a baby, will have lost this innate skill by the time they become older. Babies, on the other hand, are totally fine with underwater swimming. So like they say… you have to work the iron while it’s hot. Make use of your baby’s natural instincts and get that kid in the water already!

Escaping The Cubicle And Fleeing Into The Great Outdoors

matterhornFor as long as I can remember, I have worked an office job. I don’t mind having a cushy job. The big downside is that I do not get out much. More often than not, I have to put in some pretty long hours and I don’t like it one bit. I have a very demanding boss and sometimes he drives me entirely crazy. Most of the time, I have to work way more than 40 hours per week. Some weeks, it’s even 60. I can’t believe I managed to keep it up all those years. And then when I come home I have to pay attention to my wife and kids, and it is sometimes hard to come up with the energy. At one time, I had completely had it breaking my balls on a mere office job. Me and my wife have decided that we are going to live a bit more frugally. We do not want to be paying a high price for living any more. My boss can go suck it and I am going to work somewhere else soon. I do not like the daily grind and the daily grind does not like me.

maryland7It is the same stuff every single day. Your whole life flashes before you and you look back on it all, wondering where time went. I am in marketing and I have to do all sorts of boring computer and administration stuff all day long. I totally hate it. So I’m going to do something useful with my life before it is too late. I’m rapidly approaching middle age. The biggest part of my youth is already gone. So now I am going to see to it that I will spend some more time outside. I want to get more exercise and see if I can’t rejuvenate my body a little bit. I have recently adopted a more healthy diet and that already makes me feel so much better about myself. Healthy food is good for you. But combining it with some time outside is even better for you. I sure do love getting some fresh air every once in a while. I love being in the middle of nature. I’m living in a area that has plenty of nature available. I live near a big city although I am not willing to say which one, for fear of one of my readers coming over to stalk me. I have the ability to go outdoors whenever I like.

lamer hikingDo any of you guys out there realize how important it is to get out of the house every once in a while? Some fresh air every once in a while is going to do your body good. I have recently quit my boring office job so pretty soon I will be able to get even more outdoor time in my life. The times of sitting in a cubicle watching a computer monitor are pretty much done. I am totally fed up with it and I’m throwing that lifestyle out of the window. And since I will be having so much time in the near future, I am going to use it to hike, rather than to take normal walks. Ayup, you read that right, people. I am taking to the trails and I’m going to take a hike. I have my mind set on it and there is nothing that anybody can do to hold me back. Just try! I have been preparing for a long time now. I made a big list of hiking gear that I will need for this trekking adventure of mine. I’ve brought a tent, a sleeping bag, a sturdy set of hiking boots and a lot more stuff.

jade mountainIf anybody reading this blog is also interested in taking up hiking as a sport, then it would be a good idea to visit the Boot Bomb site and read up. It is run by a fella named Brian, and he really knows what he is talking about. This guy has been hiking from the time he was able to stand up, judging by how passionately he writes about it. You can tell just by the look of his face that this guy totally enjoys his outdoor time. I am aiming to become a guy exactly like that. There are going to be less computers and more trees in my very near future. I do, however, have to manage a little thing called plantar fasciitis. My feet are sometimes painful. I have not always been in good shape and the weight of my body has taken a toll on my feet. I have a chronically inflamed plantar fascia and this is indeed very painful. I needed to buy a good pair of boots to cure this affliction especially for the occasion. This is a condition that you do not want to see getting out of hand.

I am going to visit a trail that is located not very far from where I live. It is also one of the highest rated trails in the world. I see good reviews of it all over the web. A lot of people love it and so do I. It’s a great trail and I’ll bet I am going to love it. I won’t say where it is because I want to keep some privacy on here. The trail I am hitting starts out on low ground, but you quickly get to a point where you will to hike upwards. This is a bit of a rough trail, but it is also very scenic. It is the exact right mix of the two things I value most in life: exercise and nature. There are plenty of other such trails in this world. And one day I will visit those other trails as well. But that is for another day. I can only do one trail at a time. If you would like to try out a rocky trail such as the one I will be traversing, then you had best get a bunch of good hiking boots for your feet, which will be heavily strained. The boots are the most important part of a hike. You need lots of other equipment too, but this post is already long enough. I’m saving that info for another post!

Fitness: Get Started With That As Early As Possible

heavy weightsAs a child, I had the nasty habit of wanting to eat candy and cookies a lot. I was always stuffing my fave with all sorts of sweety, sugary crap and other types of junk food that were stuffed with these horribly bad for you refined sugars and carbs. I have been a fat kid throughout all my life. I did not like it then and I do not like it looking back on it. I was not only fat in my child years, I was also obese in my teenage years. I could never get over it and I thought I was disgusting. But for some reason, I kept eating comfort food because I needed to feel better about myself.

But that was a long time ago, and I have nothing to do with the person that I was back then. Back in those days, you did not have the Internet yet. There were no communities that you could easily join up to and other people that you could relate to. There was nobody out there that could help you because they had already been in the same situation. There was no Bulk Board yet. I first walked into a gym when I was just out of puberty. I needed to bring up a lot of courage because I was pretty embarassed at the sorry state of my heinously obese body.

But despite the fact that I was afraid, I went ahead and did it anyway because I knew this would change my life for the better for sure. Looking back on it, I can honestly say that this was one of the greatest decisions that I have made in my entire life. I can’t fathom why I did not join up sooner, because I would have had my results so much sooner. I have postponed this for a long, long time. The way I feel about it now, I should have joined the gym way back in my mid teenager years already. But you know… the past is the past, and I don’t want to dwell on it for too long. I would rather be nice to myself and forgive myself my past mistakes.

increase powerBut I started exercising when I was in my early twenties and in the grand scheme of things, that is still pretty early. The way things are going now, humans will probably end up having 100 year lifespans or something like that. So if I just keep going to the gym religiously like I am doing right now, then I will have worked out a good 80 years of my life when I finally croak. In the big picture of a human life, I do not think this is bad at all.

The way that I have worked out has constantly changed with every passing year. When I was just beginning, I honestly did not have a clue and I just did not know what I was doing. I simply went from one exercise machine to another and I could feel that it was having a good effect on me, so I was not in a hurry to come up with a decent plan. I had no plan. I was working out every single day because I was convinced that was the quickest way of getting to a slim body. I did one muscle group on one day, and the next day I would do another muscle group.

But on some days, I would do multiple muscle groups at a time. Sometimes, I would benchpress, then train my shoulders with dumb bells and then do pull ups at the high bar. In the first few years of working out, I was just sort of going at it randomly like I did not give a flying you know what. I was pretty fat, so despite the fact that I did not stick to any particular plan, I was having great results in those first few years of hitting the gym.

lift weights build bodyBut at some point in your work outs, you will hit a ceiling. And you are starting to ask yourself… when are the *real* results coming for me? So that is about the time when you start reading up. You join a community here, sign up to a forum there, you read a couple of books on the topic of fitness, etc. I have joined the Fitness subreddit on the Reddit website. I strongly feel that this is a tremendous source of information where you can find one gem after another without having to search high and low. There was so much to learn in there, that it took my whole fitness routine to a completely new level.

Sometimes, you’ll need some supplements. Proteins are a good start. Creatine is also a good idea to add to your daily diet. And don’t forget about testosterone boosters. These are completely natural additions to your diet and can truly help your body increase its testosterone. These boosters have started becoming more and more popular in the past few years. They are totally legit as well. You do need to make sure to get one of the better ones, to ensure that it actually works.

I was signed up pretty much right from the get go. As a matter of fact, I believe I was one of the very first subscribers on there. I do not post a whole lot. I mostly lurk and see what others have to say about it. There is so much to learn from all these other guys on that subreddit, which I am constanly applying at my own gym. My weight lifting ceilings have been completely crushed ever since I joined up and I would not consider ever leaving it.

lifting at the gymI came up with a real training regimen. An actual schedule to stick to. A plan to follow. A goal. And it had been a long time coming. I needed to get some *real* results, fast. Because having lost a lot of weight was not good enough. Being slim is alright, but I wanted to pack on muscle. I wanted a six pack. You can lose lots of pounds, but it doesn’t mean you will be in good shape. Skinny fat, is what they call it. That is what I was. And I still hated myself. Despite the fact that I have kept up both the cardio as well as the resistance training, I did not get into the shape that I had always dreamed of from the first time I realized that I was fat.

But there came a day that I was fed up with it. I start reading up, joined forums and learned more and more. Before you know it, I had an actual plan. I followed my plan, stuck to it, kept visualizing my goals, and kept going at it for months at a time. I have long since achieved my goals and have never looked back. And with the help of some boosters, I can rest assured that I will be keeping my performance up for a long time to come. Deal with a decline in your t-levels before they drop too low!

Meditation Can Help You Get Relief From Migraines

If you have heard of meditation, you may have heard that it can help you get a better life in many ways. Here is a small list of benefits that are associated with meditation:

You’d think it is hard to find some inner peace in this busy lives, filled with mindless entertainment and shiny digital gadgets. But the truth is… you really don’t need to be living the life of a caveman in order to find inner peace.

There is nothing inherently wrong with leading a busy life. What matters is that you sometimes take some time to return to your inner self and simply experience serenity.

Proudly Presenting The New Pathwalker Site!

mind bodyWelcome to the new Pathwalkers website. I am the new owner and my name is Vickie. I was a big fan of the old Pathwalkers website, which went defunct way back in 2006 or 2007 or something like that. My memory doesn’t go back quite that far, but I seem to recall I was still browsing the website in 2007. Oh well. It got picked up by somebody else. This person held on to it for a couple of years. And now that the domain was released again, I picked it up. And now it’s mine. And I have big plans for this website.

I’m planning on turning it into a resource for all articles on well being in both mind and body. For a long time, I have been very sick. This was partly due to my own thoughts and actions. Because thoughts is where it all begins. Thoughts lead to choices. Choices lead to actions. Actions lead to consequences. Life is basically a big massive chain of choices, actions and consequences. And this can have either very disadvantageous or advantageous influences on both our body as well as your mind. Now be honest… would you rather be in bad shape or in good shape? If the answer is the latter, you’ve come to the right site.

holisticOur emotions can often lead us to having all sorts of physical sensations. When we are angry, we experience a burning sensation. When we are sad, we feel like we are choking up. When we are afraid of something, we feel ourselves trembling. Just the other day, I had an unpleasant experience with a colleague at work. He critized my work too harshly and completely unjust. And I could feel my heart start to pump stress hormones all throughout my chest. It’s amazing how fast the body pulls off stunts like that, isn’t it? It’s amazing how we can influence our own bodies with our own thoughts.

But you see… it wasn’t that colleague’s fault that my body started pumping around stress hormones like a raving lunatic. It was my own. It was caused by my own thoughts. And since I’m fed up with having my physical sensations being influenced ‘by other people’, I have taken up meditation in order to calm myself down. Meditation can really help in making a person less anxious. I’ve seen many of my friends do it. Now I’m doing it too. I look forward to the day where I can easily withstand a person’s unjust and harsh critiques without having to ‘burn with anger’ or ‘tremble with fear’.

My health is everything to me and I’m willing to do whatever it takes in order to be as healthy as I possibly can. What use is my limited time on earth if I can not live it in good health? It’s very important to be healthy in both body as well as mind. In recent years, I’ve taken up a health diet and a healthy exercise regimen as well. I regularly take walks and/or jogs. I even go to the gym. And when the gym is closed or I don’t feel like going, I still do bodyweight exercises.

Great way to stay in shape both physically as well as mentally! 😀
